Many die-hard Dragon Ball fans have just noticed a very obvious, decades-old animation error that was recently reported on Reddit.
A Reddit user reported a very obvious animation error in a classic Dragon ball z episode and now some fans of the show are wondering how they ever missed it.
The error occurs during an episode of the Namek saga. In the foreground, Gohan and Krillin are wearing Freezer Force battle armor, which they wear most of their time on Namek. But when the scene takes on a different angle, Krillin is suddenly back in his bright orange Turtle School uniform for one shot. Animation errors are certainly not uncommon in any of the Dragon ballanime adaptations of, as most animated series in general are made on tight budgets and even tighter deadlines, but many die-hard fans were amused to realize that in the decades since the original release of the episode, they had never noticed the visual continuity error before it was pointed out to them.
Since its inception almost 40 years ago in 1984, Dragon ball has become one of the most popular and iconic entertainment franchises to emerge from Japan. The series was created by Akira Toriyama, who was already well known for his Dr Slump comic series at the time of Dragon ball, and is now the third best-selling manga series of all time with 250 million copies in circulation worldwide. The series has been adapted into anime several times, the most popular of which was from 1989. Dragon ball z, which helped establish the anime’s worldwide popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s.
The series continues to this day with Dragon ball super, a new manga series set in the ten-year interval that occurs after the defeat of Majin Buu and the finale of the original manga. The series is written by Toriyama and is drawn by Toyotarou, a self-taught artist whom Toriyama has chosen as his official successor. The early arcs of the still-ongoing manga were adapted into an animated television series that ran from 2015 to 2018; as originally Dragon ball and Dragon ball z series, the new show was hosted by Toei Animation. The anime will continue with a new movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Heroes, which will be released sometime in 2022. The new film will be created using CG animation that attempts to recreate the hand-drawn look of Toriyama’s manga and previous 2D animation features.
