The countdown to destruction has begun! The third and final fan favorite movie Gintama anime franchise, Gintama THE VERY FINAL, will be released in theaters nationwide thanks to Fathom Events and Eleven Arts, following its release in Japan earlier this year.

The new feature will screen in select theaters on Sunday, November 21 at 3 p.m. (dubbed in English) and 7 p.m. (with English subtitles) and Monday, November 22 at 7 p.m. (with English subtitles). All times are local. As part of these special indoor events, fans will see exclusive animated bonus content featuring Gintama creator Hideaki Sorachi.

Directed by Chizuru Miyawaki and starring the vocal talents of Tomokazu Sugita (Gintoki Sakata), Rie Kugimiya (Kagura) and Daisuke Sakaguchi (Shinpachi Shimura), the film adapts some of the final moments of the original manga with new elements specially designed for the movie .


As Earth faces its darkest days, members of Odd Jobs must unite to save it from an otherworldly threat. As former allies Gintoki, Takasugi, and Katsura do their best to achieve their own ideals, stands in their way someone they share a sad story with: Utsuro, an alternate personality of their former teacher and mentor, Shoyu. Having been engendered by Altana, the energy that powers all the planets, this immortal demon has regenerated several times until finally becoming Utsuro, the ultimate enemy … and he intends to destroy the whole world in order to put end of his own life.

Gintoki and the others must now fulfill their teacher Shoyo’s wishes and thwart Utsuro’s plans. As Utsuro’s power grows and Takasugi fights for his life, Shinpachi, Kagura, the Shinsengumi, members of the Kabuki District, and even former enemies will join their fight.
