The official website of GKIDS, Annecy, and Variety Animation Is Film Festival magazine revealed on Wednesday that the France-Luxembourg animated film by Jiro Taniguchi‘s The Summit of the Gods (Kamigami no Itadaki) will open the festival in Los Angeles on October 22. The film’s North American premiere screening with an in-person Q&A from director Patrick Imbert will be followed by the US premiere of the animated film by Shogo Sugitani‘s Pompo: The Cinephile (Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san) manga.

The festival hosts the West Coast premiere of Mamoru hosodais new BEAUTIFUL (Ryū to Sobakasu no Hime) animated film with the world premiere of English dubbing for Chimney Town Doll October 23. Hosoda will host an in-person question-and-answer session with the screening of BEAUTIFUL. King of the deer (American premiere), Fortune favors Lady Nikuko (premiere in Los Angeles), and My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes’ Mission (North American premiere) will also screen on October 24.

The festival will take place at the TCL Chinese 6 Theaters in Los Angeles from October 22-24.

Netflix will release The Summit of the Gods in select US theaters on November 24 and in select UK theaters on November 26. The film will then be shown on Netflix November 30.

Pompo: The Cinephile made its North American premiere at the 25th Fantasia International Film Festival in August.
