VIZ Media unveiled a dozen new manga licenses this morning, including new titles from horror manga-ka Junji Ito, Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, and Beastars creator Paru Itagaki, as well as spinoffs from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure and The promised imaginary country. They also announced five light novels and a how-to book from the creators of Shonen Jump. All are slated for release in fall 2022. Here’s a preview:

black paradox, by Junji Ito, which follows four people who met to commit suicide together and then learned a secret that could change the world

The Shonen Jump guide to creating manga, a practical book with tips and tricks by Kohei Horikoshi (my hero academia), Tite Kubo (Bleach), Eichiro Oda (A piece) and other manga creators.

Beyond the promised imaginary land, by writer Kaiu Shirai and artist Posuka Demizu, a collection of short stories set in the world of The promised imaginary country, including an epilogue to the main series.

Thus spoke Rohan Kishibe, by Hirohiko Araki, a collection of short stories from the The diamond is unbreakable arch of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Rainbow days, by Minami Mizuno, a school love story about four guys who support each other through the trials and joys of young love. This series is complete in 16 volumes and the anime is licensed under Funimation.

romantic killer, by Wataru Momose, a color manga about a gamer who is taken to a world full of hot guys; this manga started out as a webcomic.

Mermaid scales and the city of sand, by Yoko Komori, the story of a girl who moves to a beach town after a life-changing tragedy and searches for mermaids. The story is complete in two volumes.

drip, a one-shot manga by Beastars creator Paru Itagaki about a nosebleed that just won’t stop.

look back, through Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, is a one-volume school drama about manga creation.

Dandadan, by Yukinobu Tatsu, in which a nerdy guy obsessed with the occult, a skeptical girl and a witty grandmother team up to fight the powerful supernatural forces trying to get her “family jewel”.

Assignment: Yozakura Family, by Hitsuji Gondaira, a spy story with big brother/little sister dynamics and high school romance.

blue box, by Kouji Miura, a school romance about two athletes, one who plays basketball, the other badminton.

The Hunters Guild: Red Riding Hood, by Yuki Kawaguchi, is a reverse version of Grimm’s fairy tales where Red Riding Hood becomes the hunter.

VIZ also announced two light novels based on the Jujutsu Kaisen series, one of which is entitled Summer of ashes, autumn of dust, and three novels based on Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The flower of happiness, one-winged butterfly, and Wind signs.
